Lecturer and Researcher Adviser
Dr. Ahmed ALsadi
I’m a research scientist working on enabling users to overcome obstacles to effective decision-making and participation through research and the design of technologies.
Recently, I Joined Whitireia and Weltec as Senior Research Advisor in the Teaching Innovation & Research unit at the Wellington Institute of Technology(WelTec). I’ll be working on engaging with academic staff to build capability in research and innovation and providing guidance to them to complete research outputs! In addition to preparing and supporting the Weltec PBRF profile. Moreover, support our local community, business and industry in research.
Previously working as (Researcher and lecturer) at Auckland University of Technology and NorthTec in New Zealand, helping students and colleagues to Integrate theoretical and technical knowledge in Human-Computer Interaction and user experience field.
My main research and professional interests are in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Education and Design Thinking, where I explore people’s ideas and how we could have a better digital design to have a better life. I believe that proper research should be data-driven and user-centric. It is an iterative process requiring collaboration between multiple teams.
What I do
Teaching PG and UG Courses
I am confident that my background and educational experiences have prepared me for teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. I would be confident in teaching courses in Human-Computer Interaction, Web Development and Design, Design Thinking. I would also be interested in developing senior level undergraduate or graduate courses in User Interface Design or Design Thinking. My ultimate goal is to not just teach fundamental concepts of computer science and human-computer interaction, but to teach how those concepts can be applied to positively impact the world.
As a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher, I develop interactive User Interface powered by large-scale data from users. With an unprecedented scale of users interacting with online platforms, data generated from their interactions can be used to understand collective preferences and opinions, create new content, and improve future users’ experience.
Specifically, my research has focused onMy main user preferences , UCD, design thinking and computer education, exploring people’s ideas and how we could have a better digital design in order to have a better life. I believe that proper research should be data-driven and user-centric. It is an iterative process requiring collaboration between multiple teams.
Course Development and Pre-Post Moderation
Teachers are a special people in the community as they change our life to better place, they have the ability to profoundly influence the thoughts and future directions of generations. Therefore, I look forward to a career intermixing research, teaching, and inspiring new generations of students to innovate and create technologies to positively impact the world.
